About - The Charnwood Golf and Leisure Complex has a range of things on offer from the driving range, top shot, 3G football pitches adventure golf and a bar.
'Our Indoor Adventure Golf takes you on a historical adventure from 0BC to the present day with each hole themed on key historical events in Loughborough. The par 70 Adventure Golf course has a variety of short Par 3 holes and longer, undulating holes to test everyone's putting skills. There are a variety of ways to play each hole but be warned....there are also lots of obstacles and hazards to make some shots more challenging but rewarding if you pull it off! At the start of each hole is hole layout and information about key historical event of the year so you can learn about the past.'
The visit - The adventure golf course opened in 2021 and despite only living less that 20 minute away, I had no idea that this was on our doorstep.
We visited as part of an event for families with additional needs. The course was closed to the general public for the two sessions and this made for a fun and enjoyable event for so many families. The golf course was well maintained and each of the holes had a one pager of information the that part of history e.g. 'Doomsday', 'Frame knitting'. The information was well laid out and was good to read out small parts of as you were waiting for the family in front to complete their turns.
As we went around the course we realised that if we looked up some of the holes had themed ceiling panels as well as good quality images and theme props. The holes were a good mix of challenging and achievable. There is one hole that was a par 4, but we saw lots of people having far more shots than this - this made it a challenge, but added more variety and some build up as we watched the families in front of us attempting this hole.
Will I be back? - Yes I would be back for some family fun at the adventure golf - this would be especially good for someone who is interested in the local history or someone visiting from elsewhere in the country.
Extra touches - There is also a 9-hole outdoor mini-golf course at the same site. This would also be great fun for all ages, I am sure.
Facilities - We didn't use any of the facilities whilst we were at the adventure golf so I can't comment on this on this occasion.
