Mini Chef inside The Lego House, Denmark

About - The Mini Chef is a family restaurant inside The Lego House. In true Lego fashion, you get to play in order to get your food. Build your meal with the four Lego bricks and then scan your order at the table, before the mini figure chefs in the kitchen prepare your meal. You then pick up your meal from the serving robots Robert and Roberta. They advise that you book a table at the restaurant before your visit.

The visit - When arrived we were firstly pleased that we had chosen to book prior to arriving in Denmark, as others in front were turned away as there were no spaces until later that afternoon. We were promptly seated, whilst pointing out all of the Lego features as we walked through the booth seating area. This included Lego models, the serving robots and Lego lightshades. Each table had packets of bricks (see below) which you were then to use to create your own order. Each person did this using the menu, which contained a good mix of things that everyone in the family liked.

The menu is available online and when we asked staff questions they were on hand (not just the robots where your food is delivered later) and knowledgeable.

Once we had built our menus were were then directed how to order the drinks on the screen on our booth and also place each persons bricks into the tray on the unit, where it then it confirmed our selection and sent the order to the kitchen. Each child incudes the ''special yellow brick' in their order. You then have to just keep an eye on the screen for when to collect your order.

Whilst you are waiting for your food there are Lego bricks to build with and a good selection of Lego books to read, Of course your eyes also wonder to the area where the Lego meal trays come down a rollercoaster like track to be served to the customers waiting to receive their meals. This just adds to the excitement about when your meal will be ready.

When you are alerted on the booth screen you head over to the collection area. Here you get a great view of the Lego Brick meal containers coming down to the conveyor belt section, where the robots serve your meal. You can then carry your meal containers to your table and tuck in. I chose the meatballs, pasta, 3 in 1 carrots and cale salad with cranberries, walnuts and apple dressing. All of these were fresh and I finished feeling full and ready to explore more that the house had to offer.

There was a small issue with one of our meals, but this was sorted really quicky by the staff. The food was tasty and the whole lunch added an extra touch to our already fantastic day at The Lego House. The children were excited by the yellow brick item that came with the children's meals. This was a Lego House chef figure, with Lego House printed on the t-shirt. A lovely memento. This is something that I am certain we will all remember for a long time.

Adults 199DK (£22.50 approx.)

Children 119DK (£13.46 approx.)

Will I be back? - Yes - to the Mini Chef and The Lego House! We had a full day out there from 10 until gone 6pm and could have stayed longer. The food was fresh and had a novelty factor for any Lego fans.

Extra touches - The Lego builds around the restaurant were great to look at. The Lego blocks and books were good for children whilst waiting and the build your food in order to order made it feel like you were just carrying on playing in the house! The Lego Chef souvenir figure for the children was a great touch - I wish that they gave them to the adults as well! If you are visiting The Mini Chef restaurant, but not admission into the house, you can still access the play areas housed on the roof of the house.

Facilities - Facilities within The Lego House include bathrooms, cloakroom and free to use lockers.
